He had not filed his own tax returns for 2006, 2007, or 2008. Naturally, IRS did him a favor (actually, they are supposed to do this for most people who don't file) and filed his tax returns for him! Big uh-oh! They computed that he owed over $210,000 for just those three years. Bring out the helicopters and bloodhounds and begin the search! Our new client felt like he had his picture plastered in every post office in the country. Long story short........we were able to file tax returns that replaced the ones that IRS had done for him and we suddenly he owed just $31,737 including tax, penalties, and interest. And according to our calculations (and IRS agreed with us), our client qualified for Currently Non Collectible Status (CNC). So our IRS contact released his Wage Levy and set him up as CNC. Jeff, I have had an amazing experience with you. I was under
huge stress when my HR department called me to tell me that the IRS was going to
